This bill amends the Pennsylvania Construction Code Act to establish a "trainee classification" for individuals seeking certain construction inspector certifications. The trainee classification would be optional and allow trainees to learn the duties of a certified inspector under the supervision of a sponsor certified in the relevant category. Trainees would be limited to a two-year (for residential and accessibility categories) or three-year (for other categories) training period and would not be allowed to conduct inspections alone. The bill also authorizes the Department of Labor and Industry to set fees, applications, and registration procedures for the trainee classification system.
