AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to lock-down drills
AI Summary
This bill amends the education law to decrease the frequency of lockdown drills in schools from 12 to 10 times per year, with 6 of those drills required to be held between September 1st and December 31st. It also directs schools to implement lockdown drills using a trauma-informed, developmentally and age-appropriate approach, including providing advance notice to parents and guardians, avoiding the use of props or simulations, and accommodating students who may need extra support during the drills.
