This bill, the Community Colleges and Universities Safety Grant Act, aims to make campus law enforcement agencies eligible to apply for certain grants administered by the Department of Justice that are currently only open to state or local law enforcement agencies. The bill defines a "campus law enforcement agency" as any entity of an institution of higher education authorized to engage in or supervise the prevention, detection, investigation, or prosecution of any violation of criminal law and certified by an independent credentialing body approved by the Attorney General.
