This bill, the Federal Law Enforcement Service Weapon Purchase Act, allows federal law enforcement officers to purchase retired service handguns from the federal agency that issued the weapon to them, provided they are not prohibited from possessing the firearm and make the purchase within 6 months of the weapon being declared surplus. The handgun must be sold at fair market value, and the Administrator of General Services is required to develop policies to facilitate the sale and disposition of these eligible handguns in a manner consistent with federal gun laws.
