This bill requires each off-campus outpatient department of a provider (as defined in the Social Security Act) to obtain a unique health identifier that is separate from the provider's identifier, and for the provider to submit an attestation to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) every two years confirming that the department is compliant with the requirements for off-campus outpatient departments. The bill also directs CMS to establish a process for providers to submit the attestations and for CMS to review them, either through site visits or remote audits. This is intended to improve oversight and accountability for off-campus outpatient departments of providers.
