This bill extends the time period for tenants receiving federal Housing Choice Voucher Program assistance to locate new housing after their landlord sells the property. Specifically, the bill requires the Department of Community Affairs to establish a standard initial period of at least 180 calendar days for a household to find new housing under the federal program if they are required to vacate their rental unit due to the sale or transfer of the property by the landlord. The department may also grant households one or more extensions of this initial period. The bill also requires the Commissioner of Community Affairs to promulgate rules and regulations to implement these changes.
