This bill prohibits municipal officers or employees, whether paid or unpaid, from displaying political advertisements on or within public buildings, public flag poles, monuments, signs, or other permanent structures, as well as on any uniforms, accessories, or equipment used as part of their official duties. It also applies to municipal-owned vehicles and equipment. The bill defines "municipal officer or employee" to include members of volunteer fire departments, and "political advertisement" as any item meant to advertise or promote a certain individual for political office. The bill provides exceptions for when the political advertisement serves an educational or historical purpose, or the individual is deceased.
