This bill amends the administrative code of the city of New York and the retirement and social security law to provide that members of a retirement system who retire from such system and later rejoin the retirement system are entitled to the same rights, benefits, and privileges they had prior to retirement. Specifically, it allows members who retired on or after July 1, 1976, and later re-entered service and joined or rejoined a public retirement system, to have the same rights, benefits, and privileges as they would have had if they had entered or re-entered the retirement system on the date they first entered the system from which they retired.
