This bill, the Advanced Reactor Coordination Act or ARC Act, aims to establish a focal point within the U.S. government, called the "Advanced Reactor Coordination and Resource Center," to develop collaborative relationships with countries that are in the process of establishing or expanding their civil nuclear energy programs, particularly those that are considered "embarking civil nuclear nations." The key provisions of the bill include: identifying qualified organizations and service providers to assist these nations in developing their civil nuclear programs; coordinating funding, market analysis, and development of necessary models; supporting the establishment of multinational regulatory standards; and developing mechanisms for funding and staffing the Center. The bill defines "advanced nuclear reactor" to include various types of fission and fusion reactors, as well as radioisotope power systems, and "embarking civil nuclear nation" to exclude certain countries, such as China, Russia, and Iran.
