Bill Summary

AN ACT to amend the civil service law, in relation to eliminating the "wartime service" requirement

AI Summary

This bill eliminates the "wartime service" requirement, expanding the number of qualified veterans eligible for certain civil service positions. The bill amends the civil service law to remove the requirement that veterans must have served during wartime to be eligible for up to 500 non-competitive civil service positions. Instead, the positions can now be filled by disabled veterans or veterans with disabilities who are otherwise qualified, with priority given to those who received a combat wound. This change will make it easier for more veterans to access these civil service opportunities.
