This bill establishes the Veterans Entering the Sustainability Sector (VETSS) Program, which aims to provide veterans with apprenticeship training and the opportunity to enter the workforce in the sustainability sector. The bill creates the Veterans Entering the Sustainability Sector Fund to award grants to eligible employers in the sustainability sector that hire veterans with apprenticeship training. The Department of Community and Economic Development will oversee the program, and several other state departments, including Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources, Environmental Protection, and Military and Veterans Affairs, will participate in developing and implementing the apprenticeship training. The bill sets forth the application and award process for the VETSS grants, as well as reporting requirements for the program.
