This bill authorizes Tier IV status in the New York State and Local Employees' Retirement System for Marc Del Prado, an employee of the New York State Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Del Prado was employed as a lifeguard and coach with the Mohonasen Central School District from 2004 to 2013 but, through no fault of his own, failed to become a member of the retirement system during that time. If Del Prado files a written request within one year of the bill's effective date, he will be deemed to have joined the retirement system on August 2, 2004 and granted Tier IV status. The state will bear the past service costs of implementing this change, estimated at approximately $63,700, as well as the increase in annual contributions, estimated at around $4,400 for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024.
