This bill, the "Gun Violence Prevention Through Financial Intelligence Act," requires the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) to issue an advisory on how homegrown violent extremists and other perpetrators of domestic terrorism procure firearms and firearm accessories in the United States. FinCEN must request information from financial institutions to develop this advisory and consult with relevant agencies and stakeholders. The bill also requires FinCEN to issue the advisory or a report on why sufficient information was not collected within 540 days of enactment. Additionally, the bill directs FinCEN to promulgate a rule defining key terms like "firearm accessory," "homegrown violent extremist," "lone wolf," and "lone actor" within 90 days of enactment.
