This bill amends the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to give certain counties the authority to impose additional taxes and fees to support local transportation systems and infrastructure. Specifically, the bill allows counties to impose taxes on the sale of liquor, rental vehicles, real estate transfers, individual incomes, and personal property (such as motor vehicles). The bill also allows counties to impose an additional $5 fee on vehicle registrations. The revenue generated from these taxes and fees must be used to fund local transportation operations, maintenance, and debt service, as well as transportation infrastructure projects.
