This bill: Requires each public school district to adopt a policy regarding certain expectations related to the performance of staff member professional duties, including prohibiting the district from soliciting or requiring employees, applicants, or students to affirmatively ascribe to specific beliefs or principles concerning political movements or ideology. The bill also requires school districts to adopt a policy that reasonably accommodates the sincerely held religious beliefs and practices of individual students with regard to academic requirements and absences. The bill amends existing law to continue these changes after January 1, 2025.
