This bill prohibits state agencies, state authorities, and municipalities from providing funding for the purchase, use, or installation of artificial turf fields containing zinc, plastic, or perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) after October 1, 2023. Any existing artificial turf fields containing these materials can be used until the end of their useful life, but they cannot be replaced with new fields containing the same materials. The bill aims to phase out the use of artificial turf fields with these potentially harmful components.
