This bill: - Expands the definition of "family member" for the purposes of unpaid leave from work due to domestic violence or sexual assault to include additional close associates of the employee. - Allows employees to use earned sick leave for caregiving purposes related to a public health emergency, and expands the definition of "disability" during a public health emergency to include care for family members who are quarantined or whose school/care provider is closed. - Allows self-employed individuals to elect coverage under the Temporary Disability Benefits Law and Family Leave Insurance for an initial period of at least 3 years. - Modifies the eligibility and benefit computation for temporary disability and family leave benefits, including eliminating the 7-day waiting period for benefits. - Requires employers to provide notice to employees about their rights and responsibilities regarding temporary disability and family leave benefits, and establishes an advisory committee to provide input on implementation and administration of these benefits. - Specifies procedures for claim filing and processing, and imposes timely determination and payment requirements on the Division of Unemployment and Temporary Disability Insurance. - Provides job protections, including the right to reinstatement, for workers who take temporary disability or family leave benefits. - Allows workers to choose between using earned sick leave or temporary disability/family leave benefits, but prevents them from receiving both simultaneously.
