This bill amends Pennsylvania's Title 35 (Health and Safety) to provide for firefighting personal protective equipment and impose penalties. It prohibits the distribution, manufacture, sale, or use of firefighting personal protective equipment containing intentionally added per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS chemicals) starting on January 1, 2028, except where the State Fire Commissioner determines the use of PFAS is unavoidable and issues guidance to that effect. The Attorney General is tasked with enforcing the provisions, and violators face civil penalties of up to $5,000 for a first offense and $10,000 for subsequent offenses, with the fines going to the Fire Company Grant Program and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program.
