This bill amends the law regulating the recall of elected officials in the town of Pembroke. The key changes include: (1) increasing the time for the town clerk to verify a recall petition from 14 days to 30 days; (2) reducing the required number of signatures on a recall petition from 20% to 10% of registered voters; (3) requiring the select board to call a recall election if the officer does not resign within 5 days, as long as the next town election is scheduled more than 64 days away; and (4) removing the requirement that at least 40% of eligible voters must participate in a recall election for it to be valid.
