This bill, the Imaging Services Price Transparency Act of 2023, aims to amend the Social Security Act to promote price transparency for imaging tests under the Medicare program. Starting in 2025, providers and suppliers who receive Medicare payments for furnishing specified imaging services must publicly disclose the discounted cash price or gross charge for each such service, as well as the minimum and maximum negotiated rates with group health plans or group/individual health insurance coverage. The Secretary of Health and Human Services will establish methods and formats for providers to compile and publish this pricing information, and will monitor compliance, with potential civil monetary penalties for non-compliance.
