This bill requires delivery safety training for those who make deliveries for online ordering and delivery platforms within a city with a population of one million or more before they can make a delivery. The training curriculum is to be established by a task force and must cover topics such as vehicle and traffic laws, safe driving behaviors, defensive driving skills, and common risks for new delivery drivers. The training must be at least three hours long, provided in English and the ten most common non-English languages in New York, and be offered at no cost by the online ordering and delivery platforms. Individuals who complete the training must be paid at least the minimum wage or $15 per hour for the time spent in training, funded by the platforms.
