This bill amends the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act by adding a new section 706. The key provisions of this bill are: 1. Except in certain circumstances, settlement agreements related to claims of assault, discrimination, harassment, or retaliation because of sex cannot contain provisions that prevent or restrict the disclosure of factual information related to the claim. 2. Courts are prohibited from entering orders that restrict the disclosure of information in a way that conflicts with this law. 3. Settlement agreements can include provisions to shield the identity of the claimant and the amount paid in the settlement, but this exception does not apply if a government agency or public official is a party to the agreement. 4. Any provision in a settlement agreement that violates the disclosure restrictions is considered void and against public policy.
