This bill, known as the "Baby Observation Act" or "BO's Act," directs the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute to prepare and release a report on home cardiorespiratory monitors for infants. The report will include a review of best practices to reduce or prevent sleep-related sudden infant death syndrome, an analysis of the effectiveness and accuracy of home cardiorespiratory monitors, and recommendations on whether such monitors should be covered under various health care plans. The bill defines a "home cardiorespiratory monitor" as a medical device used in the home to track the respiratory effort and heart rate of a sleeping infant, and an "infant" as a person under 2 years of age. The funding for this study will come from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Trust Fund.
