This bill amends the Insurance Code of 1956 to require health insurance policies delivered, issued, or renewed in Michigan to provide coverage for a 12-month supply of prescription contraceptives. The bill mandates that insurers cover the full 12-month supply at one time, unless the insured requests a smaller amount or the prescriber determines a smaller supply is medically appropriate. The bill also requires coverage for related outpatient consultations, examinations, and medical services. While insurers can apply typical cost-sharing provisions like copays and deductibles, they cannot impose other utilization controls that limit the supply to less than 12 months, unless the FDA deems a 12-month supply medically inappropriate. The new requirements would apply to policies beginning December 31, 2025.
