Bill Summary

AN ACT To provide that sanctuary jurisdictions that provide benefits to aliens who are present in the United States without lawful status under the immigration laws are ineligible for Federal funds intended to benefit such aliens.

AI Summary

This bill, the "No Bailout for Sanctuary Cities Act," would make sanctuary jurisdictions (any state or local government that prohibits or restricts the exchange of information with federal immigration authorities or compliance with immigration detainers) ineligible to receive federal funds intended to benefit individuals present in the U.S. without lawful immigration status. The bill defines a "sanctuary jurisdiction" and provides an exception for policies that protect victims and witnesses of crimes. It also requires the Secretary of Homeland Security to submit an annual report on states and localities that fail to comply with federal immigration enforcement requests.
