This bill amends the Public School Code of 1949 to further provide for child abuse recognition and reporting training for school employees, increasing the minimum training requirement from 3 to 4 hours every 5 years. The bill also requires the Pennsylvania Department of Education, in consultation with the Department of Human Services and at least one child abuse organization, to develop a model child abuse awareness and prevention curriculum for schools to incorporate into their existing curriculum for students in kindergarten through grade 12, starting in the 2024-2025 school year. This is aimed at increasing child abuse awareness and prevention education in Pennsylvania schools.
