This bill aims to permanently extend certain in-home cardiopulmonary rehabilitation flexibilities that were established in response to COVID-19. Specifically, it amends the Social Security Act to allow for cardiac rehabilitation, intensive cardiac rehabilitation, and pulmonary rehabilitation services to be provided in the home of an individual through telehealth using audio-visual real-time communications technology, or when the home is designated as a provider-based location of a hospital outpatient department. It also expands the originating sites where telehealth services can be provided to include cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs. The bill requires the Secretary of Health and Human Services to establish standards for designating the home of an individual as a provider-based organization of a hospital consistent with waivers issued through the Hospital Without Walls program, and to include these rehabilitation services among the telehealth services covered under the Social Security Act.
