This bill aims to regulate the use of digital coupons by stores in Massachusetts. It requires stores that offer digital coupons to also make available a paper version of the coupon of identical value. Additionally, stores must apply digital coupons to purchases made by consumers aged 65 and older upon presentation of a government-issued ID. Consumers can also request the application of available digital coupons when presenting a store card. Stores that violate these provisions can face civil penalties of up to $2,500 for a first offense and up to $5,000 for subsequent offenses. The Attorney General's office will be responsible for establishing the rules and regulations necessary to implement this law.
