This bill provides for a review of sanctions with respect to Hong Kong. It requires the President to submit a determination, including a detailed justification, within 180 days of the bill's enactment, on whether any of the 49 named individuals, including officials of the Hong Kong Autonomous Region, meet the criteria for the imposition of sanctions under various existing laws and executive orders related to human rights abuses and corruption. The "appropriate congressional committees" referred to in the bill are the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, as well as the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and Committee on Financial Services.
