This bill reaffirms the applicability of the Indian Reorganization Act (a law from 1934) to the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, a federally recognized Native American tribe. The bill states that for the purposes of the Indian Reorganization Act, the Poarch Band of Creek Indians is deemed to be a recognized tribe under federal jurisdiction. Additionally, the bill ratifies and confirms the actions of the Secretary of the Interior in taking certain lands into trust for the benefit of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians prior to the enactment of this bill. The provisions in this bill are retroactive, applying as if enacted on June 18, 1934, and covering any related claims that were pending or filed on or after the date of enactment.
