This bill amends the definition of "economically disadvantaged" for the purpose of the school readiness program in Florida. It increases the income threshold from 150% to 250% of the federal poverty level. The bill also requires the state Department of Education to collect and report data on the school readiness program, including measures related to reducing the waitlist, the percentage of children served compared to administrative costs and the total number of children under 250% of the federal poverty level, and kindergarten readiness outcomes. The bill takes effect on July 1, 2024.
