This bill amends the Human Services Code to further provide for false statements, investigations, and penalties related to public assistance programs. It creates a new offense for knowingly producing, using, trafficking, or possessing counterfeit access devices that replicate the payment card information of a person receiving assistance. The penalties for this new offense are graded based on the amount of assistance or food stamps involved. The bill also extends the statute of limitations for these crimes and makes individuals convicted under the new provision permanently ineligible to receive cash assistance.
