This bill, titled the "Internet Application Integrity and Disclosure Act" or the "Internet Application I.D. Act," would require any person that maintains an internet website or sells a mobile application that is owned, wholly or partially, by the Chinese Communist Party, a Chinese state-owned entity, or a non-state-owned entity located in China, or that stores and maintains information collected from such website or application in China, to clearly and conspicuously disclose that fact to any individual who downloads or uses the covered service. It also prohibits the knowing disclosure of false information under this requirement. The bill empowers the Federal Trade Commission to enforce these disclosure requirements in the same manner as the Federal Trade Commission Act, subjecting violators to the same penalties and granting the Commission the same jurisdiction, powers, and duties.
