This bill, the Countering Corrupt Political (CCP) Influence Act, requires foreign missions from certain countries (referred to as "covered countries" - including China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Afghanistan under Taliban control) to notify the U.S. Department of State at least 72 hours in advance of any meetings between their officials and U.S. state or local officials, or visits to educational/research institutions. The Secretary of State must submit monthly reports to Congress listing these meetings and visits, and the bill also requires a threat assessment report on these covered countries to be submitted within 4.5 years. The requirements under this bill will expire 5 years after the date of enactment.
