This bill, the Disengaging Entirely From the United Nations Debacle Act of 2023 or the DEFUND Act of 2023, proposes to terminate the United States' membership in the United Nations and its affiliated bodies. It would repeal the United Nations Participation Act of 1945 and the United Nations Headquarters Agreement Act, effectively withdrawing the U.S. from the UN. The bill also prohibits any U.S. funding or participation in UN peacekeeping operations, and revokes diplomatic immunity for UN personnel in the U.S. Additionally, it repeals U.S. involvement in the World Health Organization and other UN conventions and agreements.
