AI Summary
This bill aims to make financial education instruction a graduation prerequisite and a required component of public education in Washington state. It requires all public high schools to provide students with at least one-half credit of financial education instruction starting in the 2027-28 school year, and requires students graduating in 2031 and beyond to earn at least one-half credit of financial education instruction. The content and instruction can be provided in standalone courses or embedded into other courses and subject areas, as long as they conform to the state's financial education learning standards. The bill also requires school districts to submit implementation plans to the state by December 2025, and the Financial Education Public-Private Partnership to create a statewide implementation plan by September 2026. Principals may waive the graduation requirement for students who resided outside the state for an extended period during high school.
