AI Summary
This bill establishes an artificial intelligence (AI) task force to assess current uses and trends, and make recommendations to the legislature regarding guidelines and potential legislation for the use of AI systems. The task force will be composed of an executive committee with members from the legislature, the attorney general's office, state agencies, universities, industry groups, and community organizations. The task force will examine the development and use of AI in both the private and public sectors, and make recommendations on issues such as benefits, risks, racial equity, workforce impacts, ethical concerns, data privacy and security, accountability, transparency, and appropriate use of AI systems. The task force is required to submit reports to the governor and legislature, with a preliminary report due by December 31, 2024, an interim report by December 1, 2025, and a final report by July 1, 2026.
