This bill requires employers in New York to provide paid vacation time to eligible employees based on their length of employment. Employees are entitled to up to two weeks of paid vacation after one year, up to three weeks after three years, and up to four weeks after five years of employment. Employees who work an average of at least 20 hours per week are eligible for this paid vacation time. The bill also sets guidelines for how employers must handle vacation requests and policies, prohibits employers from penalizing or intimidating employees for using their vacation time, and allows employees to choose to forgo their paid vacation time in exchange for double their standard wages.
