This bill requires the secretary of state to enter into a membership agreement with the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC), a non-profit organization that helps states improve the accuracy of their voter rolls. The bill mandates that the secretary of state share voter information and data from the statewide centralized voter registration database, as well as relevant data from the Department of Motor Vehicles and other state agencies, with ERIC for the purpose of comparing and improving the accuracy of voter records across states. The bill also requires the secretary of state to receive and process ERIC reports to identify potential duplicate voting records and eligible but unregistered voters, and to initiate contact with those individuals. Funding for the implementation of this bill is to be provided by federal funds, including grants received under the Help America Vote Act of 2002.
