This bill funds and equips the local government record manager with online storage of records that are available for public access. Specifically, the bill: 1. Requires the Director of the State Archives to designate a publicly accessible website for the retention and public access to local electronic records, with the approval of the Municipal Records Board. 2. Authorizes the local government records manager or State Archivist to employ specialists in records management, archives, and administration to provide and issue guidance for the use of the publicly accessible website. 3. Allows electronic municipal records to be stored on the publicly accessible website designated by the State Archivist, and provides that municipalities only need to keep one cost-free method of accessing the website. 4. Appropriates $150,000 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024, to the Secretary of State's Division of Archives and Records Management for the local government records manager position, creation and maintenance of the publicly accessible website, and implementation of the bill's provisions.
