This bill amends provisions related to a criminal accounts receivable. It allows eligible individuals who owe $3,000 or more in debt from a criminal judgment sentenced before July 1, 2021 to receive a 75% credit against any qualifying debt (fines, fees, surcharges, etc. deposited into the General Fund) if they make a voluntary payment towards restitution. The Office of State Debt Collection must provide notice of eligibility and confirmation of credit eligibility. The bill also expands the definition of "criminal accounts receivable" to include various unpaid fees, forfeitures, and other charges. Additionally, the court may set a $50 per month payment schedule if it is unable to determine an appropriate amount.
