This bill addresses certain sexual crimes committed against children. It amends Utah law to clarify the definition of "sexual intercourse" and "simulated intercourse" in the context of the crime of "rape of a child." It also expands the definition of "object rape of a child" to include additional types of sexual contact. Additionally, the bill modifies the offense of "sexual abuse of a child" to clarify the types of prohibited touching. The bill also makes changes to the offense of "aggravated sexual abuse of a child" by adding new circumstances that can elevate the offense. Finally, the bill sets an effective date of May 1, 2024.
