This bill establishes a legislative task force on housing cost driver analysis in Washington state. The task force will be composed of members from the state legislature, as well as various stakeholders representing economists, housing developers, builders, labor, realtors, local governments, tenants, lenders, utility providers, and others. The task force will research, analyze, and determine the primary cost drivers for housing in Washington, and report its findings and recommendations to the legislature by December 1, 2025. The task force will be supported by legislative staff and is required to solicit input from the affordable housing advisory board and other relevant experts. The expenses of the task force will be jointly funded by the state senate and house of representatives, and the task force will expire on June 1, 2026.
