This bill amends Section 1003.42 of the Florida Statutes to revise the required instruction in life skills that build confidence, support mental and emotional health, and enable students to overcome challenges. The bill adds career readiness, financial literacy, and home economics to the existing requirements, which already include instruction on topics like self-awareness, responsible decision-making, and developing leadership and interpersonal skills. The bill also specifies that the life skills instruction must be comprehensive, age-appropriate, and developmentally appropriate for K-12 students. The bill will take effect on July 1, 2024.
