This bill establishes a five-year motor vehicle registration option for motor vehicles with a model year of manufacture that is less than five years old. The five-year registration fee will include the annual registration fee plus a pro rata amount for the additional four years. Owners will need to provide the required documentation for vehicle registration, including a personal property tax receipt, proof of motor vehicle safety inspection (if applicable), and proof of insurance. The director of revenue may prescribe rules and regulations for the effective administration of this five-year registration option, which will become effective only if promulgated pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 536.
