This bill modifies requirements for child care reimbursement in Missouri. It eliminates the previous requirement that child care reimbursement be based on a child's actual attendance, and instead bases it on the child's enrollment status. The bill also creates a transitional child care benefits program that allows recipients to receive benefits without first qualifying for the full child care benefits. The transitional benefits are determined on a sliding scale based on the recipient's household income relative to the federal poverty level. The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is required to implement the transitional benefits program by July 1, 2024 and to report annually on its effectiveness.
