This bill adopts the Dentist and Dental Hygienist Compact, which facilitates the interstate practice of dentistry and dental hygiene and improves public access to these services by enabling dentists and dental hygienists licensed in a participating state to obtain a compact privilege to practice in other participating states. The bill also changes provisions relating to criminal background checks under the Uniform Credentialing Act and the Dentistry Practice Act to require such checks for applicants for licenses to practice dentistry and dental hygiene. Finally, the bill provides that a person holding a compact privilege to practice in Nebraska under the Dentist and Dental Hygienist Compact may engage in the practice of dentistry or dental hygiene as authorized under the compact.
