This bill amends existing law to prohibit an "offender against children" from knowingly or intentionally residing within 1,000 feet of certain areas owned, maintained, and governed by a homeowners association or property owners association, such as parks, playgrounds, swimming pools, and beaches. An "offender against children" is defined as a person required to register as a sex or violent offender who has been convicted of certain sex crimes involving children. The bill provides an exception for offenders who had already established a residence within 1,000 feet of such areas before the effective date of July 1, 2024. Violation of this residency restriction is a Level 6 felony.
