This bill modifies provisions related to caring for children. It amends the duties of the Department of Health and Human Services in licensing and regulating child care programs, including allowing the department to require criminal background checks for certain individuals providing residential child care. The bill also makes changes to the requirements for obtaining a Residential Child Care Certificate and who is excluded from the licensing and certification requirements. Additionally, the bill amends the state's nonrefundable child tax credit by increasing the age limit for qualifying children from 4 to 5 years old. Finally, the bill makes changes to allow certain government agencies to access juvenile court records for the purpose of evaluating individuals seeking to work with children.
