This bill amends the New Mexico Human Rights Act to make housing discrimination based on a renter's or buyer's source of income an unlawful discriminatory practice. The bill defines "source of income" to include income from a lawful profession, social security, public assistance, housing assistance, pensions, alimony, and other lawful monetary sources. The bill prohibits landlords, real estate agents, and others from refusing to rent, sell, or negotiate housing based on a person's source of income, or from discriminating in the terms, conditions, or privileges of housing transactions due to a person's source of income.
